A phone cannot determine authenticity from a normal barcode alone. The useful answer comes from a governed registry that approved brand owners can publish into and administrators can review.
Manufacturer-published records
Approved brand owners publish products, batches and serialised pack codes. Drink Verify checks the submitted code against that registry instead of guessing from a normal barcode.
A clear verification result
A check returns the product, manufacturer, facility, batch and recall status on record — or plainly says that the code is not in the approved registry.
Recall visibility
Registry administrators can flag a published pack record as recalled so every future consumer check returns a prominent do-not-drink warning.

The proposed pilot model separates free public verification from manufacturer tooling. Prices and Stripe Price IDs are controlled from the protected billing backend before checkout can be enabled.
